We take lunch & we do a training on “not judging, but asking” to set you up for a supportive conversation environment.
After some 2 hours for yourself, we take the night to share with each other why we are here. What is exactly that you want to gain clarity on?

After breakfast, we do 3.5-hour hike to Kenja.
We take a lunch break and do a 40-minute guided meditation on what we appreciate about ourselves & what we want to change.

We do a pre-breakfast meditation to manifest who you care to be & to explore what has been holding you back from getting there.
After a reflective 5-hour silent hike to Trakshindu La, we do 25-minute individual coaching sessions to address your roadblocks. You will prepare to share you fears with the group.

Frequently asked questions

The most common questions

01

What is the purpose of this coaching?

The purpose of the Hiking Clarity Leadership Coaching is for you to reflect on what matters most. It is about taking the time to develop clarity on YOUR most important question, who you are in its context, & what your personal answer to this question is.
To find your answer, we deliberately spend time in nature far away from your everyday life, so you can disconnect from the world and reconnect with yourself.

To achieve this, you will spend significant time:

  • Hiking in silence
  • Contemplating in guided meditations
  • Reframing your views in 1-on-1 coaching sessions
  • Broadening your perspective in group coaching sessions
  • Connecting with like-minded leaders

02

Who can participate?

For each cohort, we carefully choose 10 leaders who seek clarity to move mountains. For this reason, we require the following things from you:

  • You have an important leadership question to contemplate
The purpose of this coaching program is to gain clarity on a question that truly matters to you. So, we require you to know why you want to take this journey towards more clarity.
  • You are an accomplished leader
We carefully select 10 business leaders who will inspire each other to be their true selves & to move mountains; because only your true self can do this.
  • You are physically fit to hike for up to 20 km / 12.5 miles a day
We will be hiking for up to 20 km / 12.5 miles a day, on some days gaining up to 2,000 m / 6,660 ft. You need to be fit.
  • You hold respect as a core value
This experience is based on respect. We ensure that all participants care for themselves & others. You are there to inspire each other to become great.
  • You have an insaturable passion for life
This executive coaching helps you to make your life even more purposeful. We care for participants to love life. This is not therapy, this is inspiration.
  • You are a man
We care for every participant to identify with each other as much as possible. For this reason, we only cater to male participants. We want you to see the greatest in each other & adopt it for yourself.

03

What are the rules?

The basic rule is that you are fully committed to your transformation. More specifically, this means:

  • Real talk
There is no place for small talk. In this group, we aim for every conversation to be about what really matters.
  • Disconnection
No SIM cards & no WiFi, so you reconnect with yourself. We will send a daily safety update to the people of your choice.
  • Honesty
If you want to become who you really are, you need to speak what you really think & feel; not what others want to hear.
  • Presence
This experience requires your full presence. This means no drugs (incl. no alcohol). Smoking tobacco is permitted. Please make sure that you do not disturb other participants nor that you pollute the environment.
  • Trust
Everything that is shared is respected & remains confidential, unless you give the group your approval to share it.

Who are the people participating?

This is an experience for leaders. We offer this coaching to people who take leadership for running their businesses, managing their teams, changing the world, & genuinely having an impact. In addition, it is important to note that all participants are men.

03

Why the different cohorts?

Because being surrounded by like-minded individuals who contemplate similar topics like you is going to support you in finding your clarity.
In addition, we have a local focus for many cohorts, so participants can stay connected even after the program.
If you have difficulties choosing the right cohort, we are happy to assist you.

04

Am I safe?

Above all, we care for your safety!

  • Safe hikes
This trip is NOT meant to be dangerous in any way. There are no climbing sections, we do not ascend above 3,500 m / 11,480 ft for prolonged periods of time, nor do we walk through uncharted wilderness.
  • Reliable infrastructure
We hike on well-maintained trails, sleep in lodges, & eat cooked food in local guest houses.
  • Medical support
There are medical stations along the way in case of an emergency. At no point are we further away from a hospital than a 1-hour helicopter flight (plus getting to the helicopter pick-up side). We carry a first-aid kit & at any point there is at least one member of the team who is trained & experienced in administering first aid.
  • Help in reach
Most of the trek has cell phone reception. We also carry a satellite phone at all times.
  • Safety updates
To ensure that your loved ones can sleep tight, we are also happy to send daily updates (incl. a photo) on your safety.

However, it is important to mention that you are responsible for your safety & that you are taking this trip at your own risk.

05

Where do we stay?

On the arrival day, we will stay at the Hyatt Place Kathmandu, a 5-star hotel in the capital of Nepal, a mere 15-minute taxi ride from the airport.
On all other days, we will stay in rural lodges. We ensure that you have a room to yourself.
However, it is important to note that the rooms are not heated, nor do they have private bathrooms. On rare occasions, it might happen that there will be no access to hot water.
All above-mentioned stays are included.

06

What do we eat?

You will get breakfast, lunch, & dinner every day. You will be able to choose whatever & however much you want at the guest & tea houses where we take rest.
A typical meal in the Himalayas is Dal Bhat, a dish consisting of steamed rice & a cooked lentil or other pulses stew. Most lodges & restaurants also serve Western food.
All healthy meals & drinks are included.

The coaching

01

What to expect from the coching sessions?

First of all, the entire experience is a coaching session. It is specifically designed for you to disconnect from your daily business & reconnect with yourself. Within this design, there are multiple elements that support this purpose:

  • Hiking sessions
Most of the hiking is done in silence. It is meant for you to just walk, take in nature, & be with your thoughts.
Oftentimes, you do not come to an important conclusion because you distract yourself with busy work, people, or entertainment. The hiking sessions are specifically designed to have extended periods of time without distraction.
You might be wondering, “But, doesn’t nature distract?” Countless studies & our experiences have shown that being surrounded by nature relieves stress, grounds you, & thereby helps you focus.
Countless biographies also have one thing in common: most great leaders in history spend extended periods of time walking. It is also interesting that hiking set trails with clear destinations helps us in pathing out our own way to more clarity.
  • Group coaching sessions
The group consists of carefully selected leaders who are currently contemplating similar topics as you are. With these people, you will engage in one or two group coaching sessions a day.
These sessions always focus on the specific question of the day. For this, every participant is invited to share whatever feels right.
To ensure a path towards clarity & action, all group coaching sessions are under the joined value of “not judging, just asking.” When you share something, the other participants are not judging you, but helping you to deepen your understanding and broaden your perspective.
  • 1-on-1 coaching sessions

Every journey towards clarity is unique. For this reason, you get individual coaching sessions with Teddy where we fully focus on you.

    • Pre-Trip
Before the trip, you will do a 45-minute online session to define what question you want to take with you on this trip.
    • Day 1
On the day of arrival, you will do a 25-minute in-person session to set a clear intention for the following days. “What do you want to get out of these days?” (In case of early or late arrival, we can also move this session slightly.)
    • Day 3
After 2 days in the mountains & a lot of personal reflection, you will reflect with Teddy on who you really are. You will also define your desired outcomes for the 12-hour silent hike the next day.
    • Day 5
This day is about reflecting on your fears & how you are holding yourself back from walking your clear path. Today’s individual coaching session is meant to help you prepare for opening up during tonight’s fireplace fear talk.
    • Day 7
In the final coaching session, you will clearly define what you have learned & make a commitment for your return to your daily life. (In case of early departure, we will do this meeting online after the trip.)
  • Guided meditations
Meditations are momentary retreats into yourself. The purpose of the guided meditations is to set you up for important reflections.
In addition, we care for you to practice & learn the 5-step model of Buddhist mindfulness meditation to take with you as a skill. It will be valuable to stay on course after this trip.
  • Side conversations
You yourself have so much to offer. So, do all the participants. Gaining clarity is a process that is intensified & accelerated when surrounded by inspiring people with similar goals in life.
For this reason, we create a lot of room for all participants to connect & enrich each others' lives.
Many cohorts deliberately cater to specific locations (e.g. Bay Area Startup CEO Cohort) for you to build powerful relationships with leaders like you that will last for a lifetime.

02

How many coachings sessions do I get?

The entire week is a coaching session. More specifically, you can expect:

  • 5 group coaching sessions
  • 5 reflective hikes
  • 5 individual coaching sessions
  • 5 meditations

However, each group has its unique needs. Therefore, the number of group coaching sessions and meditations might differ slightly between groups. The reflective hikes & individual coaching sessions are set.

The preparation

01

How do I best prepare for the coaching sessions?

The most important preparation you can do is to clearly define the most important question that you care to gain clarity on. What do you want to ruminate on while hiking? The more clarity you have here, the more valuable the hike will be.

02

How do I best prepare for the hikes?

You know your fitness level better than anyone else. So, only you can answer this question.
In the two weeks prior to the coaching, we recommend that you hike or walk for at least 40 km / 25 miles in each of those two weeks.

The process

01

How do I request a spot?

We care for the group to consist of leaders who will inspire each other to move mountains.
For this reason, you can not simply book a slot, but we will have a couple of conversations with you to determine if it is the right fit for you.
Book your 1-on-1 intro call with Teddy or write us an email.
We are looking forward to your request.

02

What happens after my request?

The process to securing a spot looks as following:

  • You will schedule a 20-minute conversation with Teddy . The purpose is to ask your most important questions & for us to understand your intentions for joining the group.
  • In the next step, you will do a 45-minute complimentary clarity coaching session with Teddy. The purpose here is for you to experience Teddy’s coaching style & to make an informed decision if you want to join the group.
  • You get an invitation to secure your spot. You will have three days to pay your deposit to secure the spot.

03

What happens before the trip?

We support you in preparing for the trip.

  • Individual coaching session
Around 4 weeks before the trip, you will do a clarity coaching session with Teddy to start your process of defining your most important question for the hike.
  • Group onboarding
3 weeks prior to the trip, we do an online group onboarding session where you can meet the other participants. We will provide you with a checklist on everything that you need to take care of before the trip. And there will be plenty of time for you to ask questions.
  • Individual preparation

At the latest, 2 weeks before the trip, you will need to start making personal arrangements for the trip:

    • Making your travel arrangements to Kathmandu
    • Packing your bags (We will provide an essential packing list)
    • Physically preparing for the 65 km / 40 miles of hiking in the Himalayas
    • Reflecting on your clear goal for the week
  • Group check-in
1 week before the trip, we do an online group check-in to ensure everything is working out. Here you can also ask all of your questions.

04

What happens after the coaching?

We would love to hear back from you, but all our programs are designed to support you on your individual path. Our coachings are meant to inspire & energize you. For this reason, it is important for us that the program has a clear end date from when you fully take the reins again.
Once a clarity hiker, you are always welcome to join another trip or request individual coaching with Teddy. The requirement is that you have a clear objective that you want to work on. We believe that all you do needs to be intentional & self-driven.
As many of our cohorts have a local focus, we encourage you to stay connected with the group and organize your own clarity hikes in your area.

05

When do I pay?

There are two important payment dates to remember:

  • Deposit
After the complimentary coaching with Teddy, you have 3 days to secure your spot. For this, a $ 1,000 non-refundable deposit is required.
  • Full amount
8 weeks before the trip, the full amount is due. If you do not pay by the due date, we will offer the spot to a person on the waitlist. The deposit will NOT be refunded.

06

How do I pay?

There are three options:

  • Bank transfer
You can transfer your payment to a European or U.S. bank account.
  • Stripe
We are happy to provide you with a Stripe link. If you choose to pay via Stripe, an additional 3 % processing fee will be charged.

07

What is the refund policy?

  • Deposit
    The $ 1,000 deposit is non-refundable.
  • Full amount

For the rest of your payment, the refunding policy looks as follows:

    • If we can fill your spot with a suitable person from the waitlist OR if you provide us with a suitable person, you will get a full refund (except for the $ 1,000 deposit).
    • If we cannot replace your spot, you will get a 50% discount on the next cohort of your choice. You will have 12 months to make use of this discount. However, no monetary refund will be issued.

This coaching is offered by Teddy Lange under German law. As it is a packed tour (Pauschalreise) in accordance with Section 312 Subsection 2 BGB, you do not have a 14-day withdrawal right. All purchases are final.

The science

01

Why is the group limited to 10 participants?

Research & our experience clearly indicates that groups between 8 and 12 participants are the ideal size for transformational group coaching experiences.
The group is only as strong as the bonds between its members.
Larger groups do not allow for all participants to bond & lower the overall trust that is required for your transformation.
Smaller group sizes put too much pressure on the individual participants & distract you from your own progress.

02

Why do we do it in nature?

Countless studies have shown that a mere 20 minutes in nature (especially when surrounded by trees) have highly relaxing effects. Imagine a week.
We are highly contextual beings. If you want to gain a new perspective, the best catalyst is a change of scenery.
Being off the grid allows you to fully disconnect. Without access to your emails, you cannot answer them and finally focus on what is important rather than on what is urgent.
